EU GREEN Seedfunding Call 2026

EU GREEN has announced a new round of funding opportunities to develop joint research and innovation activities among the EU GREEN universities. The funding supports the creation of new and the consolidation of existing scientific relationships within EU GREEN. The call is open to academic and research support staff from all EU GREEN partner universities and to all research disciplines. It is not restricted to EU GREEN clusters, but proposals must highlight their links to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The call for proposals includes three pillars:

1. Incentive for Collaborative Research Projects

• Supports exploratory collaborative activities that utilise complementary competences and approaches to develop or reinforce collaboration and lay the basis for larger-scale projects.
• Projects must involve at least three EU GREEN partners.
• Eligible costs should relate to the structuring of research. Research itself is not funded – for example, research consumables, materials, equipment and publication costs are not eligible.
• Funded activities can include travel and networking, information sharing, gaining access to data, creating new research sub-groups, preparing high-impact publications and developing applications for external project funding.
• Maximum project budget: €10,000
• Project duration: up to 20 months

2. EU GREEN Scientific Conferences

• Funding can be used to cover organisational costs or support the travel of lecturers and/or participants from EU GREEN universities.
• Conferences must involve at least three EU GREEN partners.
• Maximum budget: €10,000
• Conferences should be organised at one of the EU GREEN universities, except for Atlantic Technological University, the University of Parma and the University of Gävle.
• Applications should include a detailed communication plan.

3. Researcher Mobility Program

• Supports research visits to EU GREEN universities to launch or reinforce research cooperation between EU GREEN institutions at individual, team or institutional level.
• Up to €2,000 per person per mobility is available to cover travel, accommodation and food costs during the mobility period, which is expected to last around one week.
• Both the visiting researcher and host researcher must be actively involved in the project, and support from a host researcher and host research centre is mandatory.

Deadline for application submission: 4 November 2026 at 3 p.m. CET

Selection and announcement of awardees: November–December 2026

Funded projects start: from 1 January 2027

Funded projects end: 30 September 2028
